month DataTjej: Nhi Tran

month DataTjej Dec 2020, Nhi Tran

In English below

Nominated by Hedieh Mohammadi, with the motivation: “Without any contacts, she managed to arrange an internship at Telia where she practiced for 12 weeks as a business analyst. After only 10 weeks, she had shown how driven and ambitious she is that she was offered not only a summer trainee at Telia, but also the opportunity to take the SAFe scrum master certificate and test the scrum master role as an intern. From LIA intern to soon scrum master. How sick ?! So inspiring! In addition, everything has happened at a distance and she has never met her boss or her team and still made such a big impression👏🏼 ”

Name: Nhi Tran
Age: 27
Workplace / Education: Scrum master / business analyst intern at Telia Company (Studying to become a requirements analyst for a two-year education at Newton University of Applied Sciences in Stockholm)

Tips for girls who want to study IT and technology-related subjects?
Step out of your comfort zone and dare to test yourself! Before I applied for the education, I asked my fiancé "what if I'm not smart enough, what if I do not understand something" Now that I think back I laugh at it. I'm glad I dared and that I took that step. Do not be afraid - nothing is impossible!

Mention three things we did not know about you!
- I work as a florist alongside my studies (and have done for 10 years)
- Hates to fly but loves to travel around the world
- Pasta with extra parmesan is the best there is

What made you choose (a profession in) IT / technology?
I got inspiration from several friends who work in IT and have always been very curious in the IT world as most can relate to it in today's society. Knowing how the technology works 'backstage' and working with it I think is super cool!

What is your biggest career dream?
My biggest career dream right now is to continuously develop and after graduation work for a company / organization that wants to develop with me.

Your three best tips for someone going to a job interview?
- One of the most important tips that I always have in mind is to always be yourself and no one else, that's how you get the farthest.
- Show that you are curious and ask questions, never be afraid to ask questions!
- Preparations are A and O. Read about the company and the service you applied for. Practice interview questions in front of a mirror or with a friend.

What is the best thing about your education?
The best thing about my education must be my two closest friends Hedieh and Bella that I met during the education. I would never have been able to complete the training without them by my side. We make sure to give each other support, pepper each other and encourage each other to fight to the end. I must also give credit to all the fantastic teachers who motivated us through the training.

How did you get in touch with DataTjej?
I looked for various initiatives that target women in the industry and found, among other things DataTjej. A fantastic organization that I got so much inspiration from!

  • What an exciting read 🙂

I wonder if you have tips on websites or courses on SAFe scrum and how one can take such a certificate.

    / Anna

    • Hi Anna! Thanks!

Fortunately, I took the certificate via Telia. But if you apply for SAFe Scrum Master certification, there will be a lot of courses for next year 🙂
